Learn How to Create New WordPress Page

By | Documentation | No Comments

Creating a WordPress page is very similar to creating a post. Just remember that pages are intended for static content like About Me or Contact Us page.  A page is also helpful if you want to have a page that looks completely different than rest of your blog but still runs on the WordPress CMS.

1) Select the word "Pages" and then "Add New" on the dashboard.
2) When the page form appears, type a title and any content that you want to be posted to your page. Then click the "Publish" button on the right to post it to your site.

The key differences between posts and pages:

WordPress post is what makes up the blog aspect of your site.

  • These are generally news or informational updates about a certain topic or talking point.
  • Posts are listed in reverse chronological order and can be tagged, categorized and even archived on your site.
  • Posts can be found in the Archives, Categories, Recent Posts, and other widgets.
  • WordPress posts are what make up the RSS content of your WordPress blog. So, when someone subscribes to your RSS feed, your posts will be the content that’s delivered to them.

WordPress Pages are similar to posts in that they have a title and body text, but they are different because:

  • they are generally reserved for static content or information.
  • Examples of this would be an About Me or Contact Us page.
  • Pages are not listed by date and can’t be categorized or tagged like WordPress posts,
  • Pages can have a hierarchy, which means you can nest pages under other pages by making one the “Parent” of the other, thus creating a group of pages.

Learn How to Create New WordPress Post

By | Documentation | No Comments

In this guide we will show you the very basic thing you need to do with WordPress - creating posts. To begin, login to your site admin panel and go to Posts -> Add New. And you can begin composing your first WordPress post.

Between the title and content fields, there is a large Add Media button. You will need to click on it when you want to upload an image or any other media to your WordPress post. The WordPress Insert Media pop-up will appear. Click on the Select files button in the middle of the screen.

For images there are two things you should take care of. First, describe the image itself - enter its Alt tag, title for the link and optionally a caption. The caption will appear under the actual image on your front end.

You can assign and/or add new categories to posts before you publish them using the Categories module to the right of the post editor. Categories provide a very convenient way to group related posts together, and to quickly tell readers what a post is about. If you would like to add a new category to your blog and associate it with the post, click  Add New Category.

A nice feature is the ability to Preview the post — this shows you more closely how it will appear once live on your site.  And, importantly, you can Publish the post once you have previewed, made any necessary edits, and are ready to go live.

That's it! You can now go to the front page of your site to check out the newly created blog post.

By | Our Blog | No Comments

The following articles are for reference only.

Every plugin you activate makes WordPress a little slower. The following plugins are known to be severely resource intensive and could cause downtime, longer page load times, or larger process counts. It is advised that you avoid the use of these plugins:

Google XML Sitemaps
: can slow down sites as well. Yoast WP SEO sitemap functionality work better.

Broken Link Checker: This plugin is highly server intensive and it could overwhelm your shared hosting server with an inordinate amount of HTTP requests.  Alternative, you can use online tool (Broken Link Check) to check for broken links.

WP Post Views: Inefficiently writes to the database on every page load. The stats module in the Jetpack plugin is a good choice for tracking trafficOther plugins that we’ve decided to proactively remove include:.

WPRobot3: can also cause high load issues, and should be disabled if they are causing issues.

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin: Related Posts plugins are extremely database intensive. The indexing, sorting and all functions are carried out using your server’s resources. The Related Posts feature under the popular Jetpack plugin is a great alternative, It scans your posts, analyzes them, and displays related posts your visitors.

SEO Auto Links & Related Posts: This plugin can cause high CPU usage.

MyReview Plugin: Slams the database with a fairly significant amount of writes.

Other plugins that we’ve decided to proactively remove include:

WP phpMyAdmin: This plugin has fairly major security issues.
Sweet Captcha: The Sweet Captcha service was used to distribute adware.
WordPress Newsletter Plugin: This plugin was used to distribute spam.

Bootstrap 3 WordPress
Bootstrap is one of the more famous frameworks out there because it has so many options and is great for creating beautiful, responsive, cross-browser friendly web sites quickly and easily without the need to learn a lot of code. It contains HTML and CSS-based design templates for typography, forms, buttons, navigation and other interface components, as well as optional JavaScript extensions for navigation, slider, transitions, scrollspy, tabs, alerts and much more.

5 Easy Ways To Speed Up Your WordPress Website

By | Our Blog | No Comments

According to a 2009 Akamai study, 47% of visitors expect a page to load in under 2 seconds, and 57% of visitors will abandon a page that takes more than 3 seconds to load. Since this study, no shortage of case studies have confirmed that loading time affects sales. Not only that, Google has now taken into account site speed in it’s ranking algorithm. That means that your site’s speed effects it’s SEO, so if your site is slow, you are not only losing customers out of impatience, but you are also losing them by having reduced rankings in search engines.

Below are five quick fixes that will dramatically improve your website’s loading time:

Identify Plugins that are slowing you down
Often times, WordPress sites load slowly because of poorly configured plugins or because there are so many of them. By using the P3 plugin from GoDaddy, you can narrow down anything causing slowness on your site and then can make decision about whether to keep them, replace them or remove them entirely.

Add LazyLoad to your images
Lazy Load allows you to only load images above the fold (i.e. only the images visible in the user’s browser window) and the other images begin to load once a user starts scrolling down the page. This will not only speed you page loads, it can also save bandwidth by loading less data for users who don’t scroll all the way down on your pages. To do this automatically, install the jQuery Image Lazy Load plugin.

Optimize images (automatically)
The bigger your image, the slower your site will load and the more server resources you will use. Smaller images mean a faster loading site. The WP Smush.it plugin will automatically optimize your images for you. It removes extra bytes within them that are unnecessary, without compromising the images quality.

Clean up the database
WP-Optimize is an extensive WordPress database cleanup and optimization tool. This plugin lets you do just one simple task: optimize your database (spam comments, post revisions, drafts, tables, trash data, etc.) to reduce their overhead.

Use an effective Caching Plugin
To do this with a plugin, I recommend using WP Super Cache. It has all of the features you need and is extremely easy to install and use. Simply install and activate, and what your page load faster as elements are cached. As soon as you install a plugin like W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache, you’ll be able to tell that your site loads faster.

Following these tips will help you improve your website speed and provide better experience for your users, which indirectly will lead to higher customer acquisition. If you have anything you’d like to add to the list, please comment below.
